Nose job – Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty improves the function and shape of the nose and harmonises facial aesthetics.
Indication
The nose occupies a central position on the face and only a few noses are considered perfect. An aesthetic rhinoplasty can help if the nose is too big or too long, the tip of the nose is too big or there is a disturbing hump.
Treatment
A successful rhinoplasty requires a thorough aesthetic and functional analysis, precise planning and an optimal technique to ensure lasting positive results. Rhinoplasty is a demanding operation that must be performed with millimeter precision. After an unsuccessful rhinoplasty, it is particularly challenging to achieve a satisfactory result. That is why I always strive for the best possible result, regardless of how long the operation takes. This strategy helps me to minimise the number of revisions.
Harmonisation of the structure
The following structures should be taken into account when harmonising the nose: The tip of the nose, the root of the nose, the bridge of the nose, the nasal bridge, the wings of the nose, the nasal septum and the nasal airways.
Technology
Rhinoplasty can be performed either open or closed (endonasal). The choice of the optimal technique depends on the aesthetic and functional problems that need to be treated.
Incision
With a closed rhinoplasty, all scars are hidden in the nose, whereas with the open variant, a small incision is also made under the tip of the nose (columella).
Complex rhinoplasty
Open rhinoplasty offers a better overview of the anatomy under the skin and is therefore more suitable for complex rhinoplasty procedures.
Preservation technology
In selected cases, a particularly gentle technique (preservation rhinoplasty) can be used in which important nasal structures remain intact and do not have to be reconstructed. This technique also preserves the natural lines on the bridge of the nose.
Ethnic rhinoplasty
With the increasing diversity in our society, the occurence of ethnic nose shapes is also increasing. I attach great importance to preserving the character, ethnicity and natural look of the nose.
Result
After the initial swelling and bruising have subsided within two to three weeks, the remaining swelling will gradually reduce over several months. Due to the initial swelling, it will take time for your new nose to reach its full beauty and breathing functionality. The final result of a primary rhinoplasty requires at least 12 months, while revisions can take twice as long.
Revisions
Even when performed accurately, some patients may not be completely satisfied. Their dissatisfaction may be aesthetic, based on unrealistic expectations or related to respiratory function. Corrections should not be rushed, as the regeneration of the nasal lymphatics and scarring take time. As a rule, a revision rhinoplasty should not be performed earlier than 1 to 2 years after the initial operation. It is a pleasure for me to discuss the various techniques with you and to help you achieve a beautiful nose.
