Why hand rejuvenation?

Because our hands are exposed to the elements, they often reveal the ravages of time earlier than other parts of our body. As we age, wrinkles, reduced skin volume, reduced elasticity, protruding veins, tendons and unsightly pigmentation appear, largely due to the ageing process and sun exposure. In addition, the loss of fat and muscle on the hands leads to an accentuation of the bony structure. After the face, our hands are often the first part of our body that people notice when they meet someone. It is therefore essential to take care of their rejuvenation in the midst of environmental influences and ageing.

What is hand rejuvenation?

Hand rejuvenation involves a range of procedures aimed at improving the attractiveness of the hands. This comprehensive approach can include various treatments, including autologous fat grafting, injectable fillers, biostimulators, radiofrequency microneedling, etc., all tailored to improve the appearance of the back of the hand.

Different treatment options

Autologous fat grafting

Autologous fat grafting, also known as autologous fat transfer or lipofilling, is proving to be an extremely beneficial option for hand rejuvenation. Its benefits include an abundant supply of stem cells, wide availability and optimal biocompatibility with overall long-lasting results, making it an attractive choice for individuals with moderately to severely aged hands. Beyond simply correcting volume deficits, autologous fat grafting is characterized by its regenerative properties. While it is slightly more invasive than hyaluronic acid or biostimulants, its biocompatible properties and its potential to regenerate the skin through fat stem cells make it an ideal material for hand rejuvenation. Long-term results often show improvements in overall skin texture and appearance, accompanied by the disappearance of visible superficial veins.

Fillers

Fillers such as hyaluronic acid offer a non-invasive approach to rejuvenating the hands by restoring lost volume and reducing the visibility of veins and tendons on the back of the hands. The treatment usually involves injecting hyaluronic acid into or directly under the skin, which plumps and moisturizes the treated area, and while temporary bruising and swelling may occur, the fillers usually integrate into the tissue within two weeks. To maintain the aesthetic result, top-up treatments are recommended every 6 to 12 months. Thanks to the immediate effect and minimal recovery time, fillers are an easy solution for anyone who wants to add volume and rejuvenate the appearance of their hands.

Biostimulators

Radiesse®, a biocompatible, biodegradable filler and biostimulator, consists of fine calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. When injected directly under the skin of the hands, it provides an immediate plumping effect that can last for up to 2 years. In addition, Radiesse® stimulates the body’s own collagen production , which contributes to improved skin quality. Sculptra® is a soft tissue filler and biostimulator for volume replacement and rejuvenation of sagging skin. Sculptra® consists of poly-L-lactic acid, is biocompatible and biodegradable, so that the injections are safe and cause hardly any allergic reactions. The collagen stimulating effects of Sculptra® become visible approximately 4-6 weeks after the injection. Collagen stimulation is a crucial element in restoring skin quality, providing long-term results of up to two years.

Morpheus8™

Morpheus8™ revolutionizes hand rejuvenation through the innovative use of minimally invasive modular radiofrequency (RF) fractionation technology. By creating tiny injuries with microneedles, Morpheus8™ stimulates collagen production, resulting in firmer, more youthful skin. Its unique ‘burst’ technology delivers bipolar radio frequency energy that effectively targets different layers of the skin, promoting deep improvements. This versatile treatment is suitable for a range of concerns including scars, acne scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, sun damage, wrinkles and sagging or drooping skin. With its ability to evenly improve skin texture across all skin tones and treat both large and small areas, Morpheus8™ ensures long-lasting results and overall hand rejuvenation.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive method for treating visible veins. By injecting a special solution, this procedure effectively obliterates bulging veins over a period of several days to weeks. When the treated veins collapse, the blood flow is redirected to healthier vessels while the body naturally absorbs the collapsed veins. This treatment provides a smoother and more youthful appearance to the hands and improves overall aesthetics.
