Indications for facial rejuvenation
Do you have drooping eyebrows or tired-looking eyes? Are your cheeks and temples hollowed out? Are your earlobes or lips sagging? Does your neck lack contour? Are you bothered by wrinkles, lines and sagging cheeks? If this applies to you, it may be time to consider surgical or non-surgical facial rejuvenation .
How can you rejuvenate your face?
Rejuvenation of the eyelids and eyebrows
Eyelid rejuvenation, also known as eyelid lifting or blepharoplasty , is often the focus of your attention when you want a facial makeover. Eyelid surgery is often combined with an eyebrow lift or facelift to achieve a harmonious result. Since the eyes, together with the eyebrows, are the facial features on which we focus our gaze first and are crucial for the expression of emotions, maintaining a refreshed and natural “non-operated” look is of crucial importance. As we age or due to stress and environmental influences, our eyebrows and eyelids begin to droop, droop and puff up. This can make us look old and tired and sometimes even impair our vision. A blepharoplasty, possibly combined with an eyebrow lift , can correct these problems and provide a refreshed appearance while maintaining the natural harmony of the eyes.
Facelift and neck lift
A lower face and neck lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that aims to achieve a more youthful appearance by correcting sagging skin, fat and muscle and smoothing wrinkles on the cheeks, jawline and neck. In a deep-plane facelift , I dissect under the skin, as well as under the fat and connective tissue that holds the facial muscles together (known as the SMAS or superficial musculoaponeurotic system). On each side of the face and lateral neck, the SMAS and platysma muscle is tightened with minimal skin removal to rejuvenate the facial contour. A neck lift, often performed in conjunction with a facelift, targets fat, sagging muscles and skin in the neck area with a separate incision hidden under the chin to achieve an overall rejuvenation. Choosing a qualified plastic surgeon who specialises in facial rejuvenation is essential for optimal results. Facial rejuvenation should go beyond the careful execution of surgery; it should aim to harmonise the face, addressing each layer of tissue. It may require additional procedures such as blepharoplasty, skin resurfacing and autologous fat grafting to ensure a balanced and refreshed facial appearance. However, there are also many different non-surgical options for facial rejuvenation. Read on to find out more!
Botulinum toxin
Botulinum toxin is known as a neuromodulator under various brand names and can be used to weaken muscle tone in order to reduce unwanted signs of ageing such as facial wrinkles or thickened chewing muscles (masseter hypertrophy). It can be used in various areas for crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, frown lines and platysma bands. To find out if botulinum toxin is suitable for correcting your specific problems or if a more invasive procedure is required, an expert assessment is needed. By consulting with facial plastic surgery experts, you can best meet your individual needs.
Fillers and biostimulation
Fillers and biostimulation treatments are designed to rejuvenate and improve the skin by replacing lost hyaluronic acid and volume and stimulating elastin and collagen production. Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced naturally in the body that helps to keep the skin hydrated and plump. Collagen provides support and structure to facial skin and connective tissue, giving it volume, elasticity and firmness. As we age, hyaluronic acid levels decrease and collagen breaks down, leading to sagging skin, especially in areas such as the cheeks. Fine lines and wrinkles also become more pronounced. Fortunately, with hyaluronic acid and biostimulants, I can restore a youthful appearance and give the skin a radiant, vibrant and fresh look in patients with minimal to moderate skin laxity. This is the main goal of my non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques. If you would like to learn more about biostimulation, read this blog.

The right age
Determining the right time for facial rejuvenation varies from person to person due to the different rates of ageing. Lifestyle factors such as sun exposure, stress and diet all play a role. I offer customised treatments that are adapted to biological rather than chronological age. Nevertheless, three age categories can be roughly defined: For younger patients in their 20s and 30s, I can treat dynamic wrinkles with botulinum toxin and prevent (premature) ageing with biostimulation and radiofrequency treatments . I call this “prejuvenation”. For 40-60 year olds, I can reverse or soften the signs of ageing and restore a youthful appearance through the full range of non-surgical and surgical methods. Patients over 60 can benefit from minimally invasive procedures for subtle rejuvenation or more powerful surgical rejuvenation methods. Before any cosmetic procedure, it is important to be in good general health to minimise the risks. Consultation with an expert facial plastic surgeon, with extensive experience in rejuvenation techniques as well as preventative and anti-ageing treatments is crucial. I will recommend the appropriate procedure, whether non-invasive, minimally invasive or invasive, to safely restore your youthful appearance.
