Body lift
A body lift is designed to create firmer body contours, which can lead to an enhanced self-image and improved body image

Indication
The natural ageing process or weight fluctuations often lead to a general laxity of the body skin.
The body lift procedure is particularly suitable for removing excess skin from the back, abdomen, thighs and buttocks. At the same time, unwanted fat deposits can be reduced. A pleasant side effect is often a reduction in cellulite and other dents and irregularities.
Treatment
There are basically two types of body lift: the lower body lift (for the belly, buttocks and outer thighs) and the upper body lift (for the arms, chest, belly and back).
Result
Although the body lift is an extensive operation with a prolonged healing time, patient satisfaction is usually high as it leads to a significant improvement in appearance and quality of life.
We will be happy to discuss a personalised treatment plan with you to help you achieve a firmer body.

Frequently asked questions about body lifting
Who is a good candidate for a body lift?
You are suitable for a body lift if you have a stable weight and excess skin around the waist. Stable health and realistic expectations are also important.
What is a lower body lift?
In a lower body lift, the incision usually begins at the pubic mound and runs in a circular pattern to above the buttock crease. The resulting scar can be skilfully concealed by the underwear.
What an upper body lift?
In an upper body lift, a horizontal incision is traditionally made in the area of the bra band in a circular direction forwards to the breast crease in order to treat excess skin on the back. The operation is often combined with a breast and arm lift.
Can several procedures be combined with a body lift?
In principle, it is possible to combine other procedures with a body lift. However, due to the long duration of the operation, the extensive procedure and the associated increased risks, we strongly advise against this.
Are drains used for a body lift procedure?
No, drains can generally be avoided with our technique.
How long is the stay in the clinic after a body lift?
After a body lift, at least 1 to 2 overnight stays in the private clinic are necessary.
What needs to be considered before and after a body lift?
Of course, we will provide you with detailed verbal and written instructions that you should follow before and after a body lift. For example, it is important to ensure adequate nutritional supplementation with protein and micronutrients. Further general information on pre- and post-operative care can be found in the “For Patients – Resources” section.
How long will it take before I am able to work again after the operation?
The period of incapacity to work after a body lift varies depending on the extent of the procedure and individual recovery. Usually, you should expect to be unable to work for around 2 to 3 weeks if your work does not involve physically strenuous activities. For physically demanding activities, the recovery time can be up to 6 weeks or longer.
When is it possible to start exercising again?
After a body lift, exercise should be resumed after 3 to 4 weeks at the earliest, depending on the healing process and the type of procedure. Light activities such as walking can be resumed after a few days. Strenuous sports and exercises that strain the abdominal and back area should be avoided for at least 6 to 12 weeks. To ensure beautiful scars, it is important not to interfere with the healing process.
Are the results of a body lift permanent?
Yes, the results of a body lift are usually permanent as long as the weight is kept stable. A healthy lifestyle helps to maintain the result.
Will the scars remain visible after the procedure?
Scars remain after a body lift as excess skin is removed. However, the scars are planned so that they are concealed by the underwear. Over time, the scars fade and become less and less noticeable.
Why do we rarely do an upper body lift?
To avoid the risk of wide scars on the back, we usually remove the excess skin there via a lateral incision, which can run either up to the bra band or even towards the pants. If an arm lift is performed at the same time, this scar joins with the scar on the inside of the upper arms.
What are the risks associated with a body lift?
Like any major surgical operation, a body lift harbours certain risks. These include bleeding, impaired scarring, wound healing disorders or asymmetries. In rare cases, blood clots or complications in connection with the anesthetic can also occur. Careful planning, choosing an experienced plastic surgeon and following the aftercare instructions help to minimise the risks.
What costs should I expect for a body lift?
The cost of a body lift varies depending on the complexity and starts at 20 000 CHF.
Does health insurance cover the costs of this procedure?
After massive weight loss, it may be possible in rare cases for health insurance to cover the costs of a body lift. With us, however, this procedure is only possible as a self-pay service.
