Breast implant change or removal
Regardless of the reasons for breast implant change or removal, the goal is always to create a harmonious and natural-looking breast.

Indication
Although modern implants can remain in the body for life, it may still be necessary to change an implant. The size, shape and sensation of the breast often play a role here.
Various reasons may lead you to want your breast implants permanently removed. Your feelings about your breasts may have changed and the current shape and feel of your breasts are no longer what you want.
In some cases, implant replacement or removal of breast implants is performed for a condition called capsular contracture (capsular fibrosis). This can occur years after breast augmentation or breast reconstruction and can lead to hardening, changes in shape or even pain.
Treatment
The solution to capsular contracture is to remove the implant and capsule (capsulectomy). A breast lift is often necessary, especially if a new implant is not inserted.
If you still wish to have larger breasts but do not want to have new implants inserted, we recommend breast augmentation with your own fat (lipofilling).
We are at your disposal to help you realise your individual aesthetic goals.

Frequently asked questions about changing or removing breast implants:
What is the procedure for removing or changing breast implants?
The procedure depends on the individual situation. In certain cases, the operation can be performed under local anesthetic. In most cases, however, the removal or replacement is performed under general anesthetic or in deep twilight sleep. After the implants have been removed, a breast correction is usually required.
Does a breast lift always have to be performed after implant removal?
A breast lift is not always necessary, but it is often recommended to tighten the skin and achieve an aesthetically pleasing result.
When can I return to normal activities after the implants have been removed?
Light exercise is possible again after about 2 weeks, but intensive sport should be avoided for 4 to 6 weeks to protect the healing tissue.
What role does capsular contracture play in the decision to change implants?
In the case of capsular contracture, the implant is removed and often the capsule is also removed and the tissue is restored to its original shape as far as possible.
How long does it take for the tissue to normalise again after implant removal?
It usually takes several months for the tissue to heal completely and stabilise so that the final result is visible.
How are scars treated during implant removal?
As a rule, the existing scars can be cut out so that they remain as large as possible, and the appearance can be further optimised with suitable aftercare.
