Breast lift – mastopexy
A breast lift is a popular operation to give your bust a more beautiful shape.

Indication
The natural ageing process, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations or genetic factors can cause the breasts to sag. A breast lift (mastopexy) can counteract this and give the breasts a more youthful and firmer shape. This procedure is often performed after pregnancies or significant weight loss and not only improves the external appearance, but often also self-esteem.
Treatment
During a breast lift, the breast tissue is reshaped internally, the nipples are lifted and excess skin is removed. The incision is usually made around the areola and in a vertical line downwards, if necessary also along the natural breast crease. The incision must be determined individually. However, we always try to keep the incisions as small as possible without compromising on scar quality and breast shape.
If additional volume is required, this can be supplemented with either autologous fat or implants (augmentation mastopexy). This particularly improves fullness in the upper breast area and in the décolleté.
Result
A compression bra is worn after the procedure. This should be worn for around 6 weeks as it supports healing and good scar formation. As a rule, the healing process is largely complete after 4 to 6 weeks.
A breast lift gives you the opportunity to restore your feminine figure.

Frequently asked questions about breast lifting
How is a breast lift performed?
On the day of the operation, you will be expected at the private clinic about an hour before the start. Before the operation, the new breast contours will be marked on your skin. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 2 hours.
Can a breast lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes, a breast lift can be combined with other procedures, e.g. a tummy tuck or correction of the genital area (mommy makeover).
What do I need to consider before and after a breast lift?
Of course, we will give you comprehensive verbal and written instructions to follow before and after your breast lift. Further general information on pre- and post-operative care can be found in the “For Patients – Resources” section.
Does the operation leave scars?
Yes, a lift without scars is not possible. The incision is made around the areola and downwards. In some cases, an additional incision in the breast crease is necessary. Incision widening for an improved breast shape is usually preferable. The visibility of the scars depends on individual skin healing. Over time, however, the scars fade and become less noticeable.
Does the position of the nipples change?
Yes, the nipples are repositioned to achieve the best possible aesthetic result. The areola is adapted to the new breast shape and the nipple is raised without permanently impairing sensation.
How is the ability to breastfeed after a breast lift?
In most cases, the ability to breastfeed is maintained after a breast lift. However, this cannot be guaranteed as it depends on other factors.
Is breast cancer screening affected by a breast lift?
No, breast cancer screening examinations are not affected if there is sufficient radiological expertise.
When can I return to work?
Depending on your workload, you should expect to be off work for around 3 to 7 days. For physically strenuous activities, it may take up to 6 weeks before you can lift heavy loads again.
When can I do exercise again?
Light exercise such as cycling can be resumed around 2 weeks after the breast lift. Upper body training and more intensive activities should only be started after 6 weeks. Activities such as skipping, jumping and jogging may only be resumed after 12 weeks.
How much does a breast lift cost?
The costs vary depending on the extent of the procedure and start at 12 000 CHF. We would be happy to discuss the exact costs in a personal consultation.
