Facelift and neck lift
A facelift or neck lift aims to achieve an authentic and long-lasting result.

Indication
Your face reflects your identity and mood. With advancing age, the decreasing elasticity of the skin and the sagging of facial muscles and fat compartments lead to wrinkles and changes in the shape of the face. These signs of ageing can affect your appearance and be experienced as a contradiction to your inner vitality.
Treatment
A facelift, usually performed as a lower face and neck lift, tightens and repositions sagging tissue to restore the original facial contours and make the face and neck appear younger and fresher
A facelift often also includes a forehead lift, eyelid correction, brow lift. Sometimes the facelift is combined with autologous fat grafting (lipofilling). For an extended neck correction (platysmaplasty), an additional incision is required under the chin.
Our technique focusses on natural results without exaggerated changes.
Aftercare and result
The head bandage is removed one day after the operation and you can then carefully wash your hair. Some of the sutures are removed after 2 to 3 days, the rest after a week. Feelings of tension and bruising usually subside within 7 to 14 days. Cooling the operated area in the first few days is important to minimise swelling and bruising. However, cooling of any autologous fat grafts should be avoided.
The results of a facelift are clearly visible after the swelling has subsided in the first 2 to 3 weeks and usually last around 10 years before a new facelift can be considered.
We look forward to explaining our comprehensive approach to facelift and neck lifting in a consultation.

Frequently asked questions about facelifts and neck lifts
How does the procedure work?
On the day of the facelift, you will arrive at the private clinic about an hour before the procedure. During preparation, the new facial contours are marked. The operation takes about 3 to 4 hours. Fine incisions along the hairline and around the ears allow the skin to be tightened and the connective tissue and facial muscles to be lifted and repositioned. An inpatient stay of 1 to 2 nights is usually required, followed by about 1 to 2 weeks of recovery time.
Where does the procedure take place?
We perform our facelifts exclusively under anesthesiological supervision in state-of-the-art private clinics in order to offer you the safest treatment and the best possible experience.
What do I need to consider before and after a facelift?
We will of course provide you with detailed verbal and written instructions to follow before and after the facelift. General recommendations for pre- and postoperative care can be found under the heading “For patients – resources”.
Are the results of a facelift permanent?
The correction of wrinkles and facial contours usually remains visible even after 10 years, but the natural ageing process will continue. The procedure can be repeated if necessary.
Does a facelift leave visible scars?
The scars are hidden inconspicuously in the natural folds around the ears and along the hairline and are usually barely visible after the healing process.
What are the risks of a facelift?
As with any surgical procedure, risks such as discomfort, hematoma, delayed healing, swelling or annoying scars can occur. These will be discussed during the consultation.
