We are happy to help you prevent long-term damage caused by teeth grinding or, if desired, to make your face slimmer.
Facial slimming – Bruxism
Botulinum is an effective and minimally invasive solution for bruxism.

Indication
Night-time teeth grinding (bruxism) is more common than you might think and is often not noticed by those affected at first.
Treatment
Muscle relaxants (botulinum) can weaken the chewing muscle and make it unnecessary to wear a splint at night.
Result
The full effect is achieved after 2 weeks, lasts between 4 and 6 months and the treatment can be repeated without any problems. As the chewing muscle (masseter) is only partially weakened, the treatment does not usually significantly affect chewing when eating.

Frequently asked questions about the treatment of bruxism
What are the consequences of untreated bruxism?
Bruxism leads to pathological tooth wear, pain in the teeth and chewing muscles as well as headaches. Special orthodontic splints worn at night can keep the consequences of bruxism under control. However, these splints do not treat the underlying problem of a hyperactive, thickened chewing muscle (masseter hypertrophy).
How does the treatment work?
Botulium is injected into the chewing muscles (masseter) using fine needles. The treatment only takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
Is the treatment painful?
The injections are generally well tolerated and cause only minor pain. If necessary, an anesthetic cream can be applied.
Are there any side effects?
Possible side effects include slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection sites, but these subside quickly. In some cases, follow-up treatment is required if there is still muscle activity, which can lead to visible bulging when the muscle is tensed.
Are there any restrictions after the treatment?
After the treatment, you should refrain from strenuous exercise or massages in the treated area for 24 hours.
Can botulinum injections into the masseter muscle be combined with other therapies?
Yes, botulinum can be combined with other methods to relax the muscles or dental solutions such as a dental splint.
What are the aesthetic benefits of a masseter treatment?
The use of botulinum to weaken the masseter muscle can also have aesthetic reasons. Disproportionate masseter muscles are often an aesthetic disadvantage, especially for women, as they widen the lower half of the face and can lead to an angular, masculine facial shape.
