Liposuction – fat removal
A harmonious figure cannot always be achieved with exercise and a healthy diet. Sometimes there are pockets of fat that just won't go away despite your best efforts.

Indication
Many people struggle with stubborn fat deposits that do not disappear despite weight loss, a healthy diet and exercise. This is particularly frustrating when forced weight loss leads to fat loss in other areas of the body such as the face, chest or buttocks and it can then be difficult to achieve the desired contour. In such cases, liposuction offers an effective option for body contouring. Liposuction enables the targeted removal of fat cells and helps to optimise body proportions.
Treatment
Before liposuction, a special solution is injected to anaesthetise the tissue and minimise blood loss. Fine cannulas are used to remove the fatty tissue under the skin. The small incisions (approx. 5 mm) are made in inconspicuous areas such as skin folds and are barely visible later on. The procedure takes between 1 and 3 hours, depending on the region and extent, and can be performed on an outpatient basis.
Aftercare and result
After liposuction, the result is not immediately visible due to swelling. It may take several weeks before the final result is visible. The results are permanent as long as the body weight remains stable.
To support healing and tighten the tissue, you should wear compression garments for 4 to 6 weeks. In cases of reduced skin elasticity, skin tightening may also be necessary. The BodyTite™ procedure is used here, a minimally invasive method for skin tightening without additional scarring. Lymphatic massages also contribute to faster recovery and better results.
We will be happy to draw up a customised treatment plan for you.

Frequently asked questions about liposuction
Which areas of the body can be treated with liposuction?
Liposuction is possible on many areas of the body, including the belly, hips, legs, arms, male breasts and double chin. Aesthetic improvement can also be achieved on the back, thighs and face by removing localised fat deposits. In some cases, liposuction can be combined with autologous fat grafting (liposculpture), e.g. in the face or buttock area, to optimise the result.
Is liposuction painful?
Liposuction is generally not very painful, as the procedure is usually performed under local anesthetic and intravenous sedation – a deep twilight sleep – or under general anesthesia. However, moderate pain may occur after the procedure, which can be easily treated with painkillers.
What do I need to consider before and after liposuction?
We will, of course, provide you with detailed verbal and written instructions on the pre- and post-operative care of your liposuction. Further general information can be found in the “For Patients – Resources” section.
When should liposuction not be performed?
You should not undergo liposuction if you are very overweight, have certain secondary illnesses or risk factors, have excess skin, or if you have unrealistic expectations of the result.
What are the possible risks?
Possible risks of liposuction include bruising, swelling, blood clots, temporary numbness and skin irregularities such as dimpling or bumps. Thorough aftercare and following post-operative instructions are crucial to minimise these risks and ensure a successful recovery.
Can liposuction replace a diet?
As a rule, liposuction cannot replace a diet. It is not a means of losing weight, but is used for targeted body contouring by removing excess fat locally.
Can the fat come back?
After liposuction, the removed fat cells do not grow back in the treated areas. However, it is possible for the remaining fat cells to grow or for fat deposits to develop in other areas of the body. A healthy diet and regular exercise are important to maintain long-term results.
When can I exercise again?
After liposuction, you should wait around 3 to 6 weeks before doing intensive sport to allow for complete healing. Lighter exercise can usually be resumed after about 2 weeks.
How much does a liposuction cost?
The costs vary depending on the area and scope of the treatment and start at 4 000 CHF. We would be happy to discuss the individual costs in a personal consultation.
