Migraine
The treatment of migraines with muscle relaxants (botulinum) has been around for many years, but it is often not used optimally.

Indication
The discovery that migraine symptoms often disappear after an endoscopic forehead lift, in which part of the forehead muscles are removed, was made over twenty years ago.
Trigger zones
It is now known that in some patients the pain is caused by pressure on sensitive facial nerves from muscles or blood vessels. There are various trigger zones where this problem can occur: Forehead, temples and the transition from the back of the head to the neck.
Treatment
The targeted weakening of the muscles with botulinum can significantly reduce or even completely eliminate the symptoms.
Result
The full effect is achieved after 2 weeks and the duration of effect is between 3 and 6 months.
We will be happy to advise you on the treatment of migraines with botulinum and surgical alternatives.

Frequently asked questions about migraine treatment
How does botulinum help with migraines?
Botulinum relaxes certain muscles in the head and neck area. This can reduce or completely prevent migraine attacks caused by pressure on the sensitive nerves.
Who is a candidate for this treatment?
Botulinum injections are suitable for people who regularly suffer from migraines or tension headaches. It is important that underlying illnesses that can trigger headaches have already been neurologically assessed.
How does the treatment work?
Fine injections are made at specific points in the forehead, temples, neck and shoulders. The treatment takes about 20 minutes.
Is the treatment painful?
The injections are well tolerated and usually only slightly painful.
Does the treatment have to be repeated?
As the botulinum loses its effect after 3 to 6 months, we recommend repeating the treatment as soon as the effect wears off and the headaches return. Regular top-ups can help to reduce migraines in the long term.
Are there any side effects?
Slight redness, swelling or small bruises at the injection sites are possible, but these will subside quickly.
Are there any restrictions after the treatment?
After the treatment, you should refrain from strenuous exercise, sauna and massages in the treated area for 24 hours.
